1. EHCP Assessment Request: This is the initial step where parents or schools request an EHCP assessment from the local authority. It’s crucial to make sure the request is well-documented and includes all necessary information about the child's needs. I can assist you in drafting a clear and compelling request by guiding you through the documentation and evidence you may need.

2. Drafting and Reviewing the EHCP: If the local authority agrees to the assessment, they’ll draft an EHCP. Parents will receive this draft to review and make comments. I can guide and assist you in reviewing the draft plan and suggest changes where necessary, ensuring that the description of your child's needs and the support specified is clear, detailed, and legally compliant. I can assist you in obtaining further professional advice, if needed, and integrate this into their comments on the draft.

3. Appeals and Tribunals: If the local authority refuses to conduct an assessment or doesn’t agree to issue an EHCP, parents can appeal. This stage also includes resolving disagreements about the content of the final plan.
It’s important that the plan accurately reflects the child's needs and specifies the provision required to meet those needs, what evidence to gather, and how to represent your case. If you need further help, I can guide you through preparing for tribunal hearings and even assist you in mediation meetings before the tribunal.
